Driver CPC Periodic Training

DRIVER CPC PERIODIC TRAINING

At the introduction of Driver CPC all drivers were given “acquired rights” for a period of 5 years resulting in PCV drivers needing to complete the Driver CPC by September 2013 and truck drivers by September 2014.

To be employed as a paid professional driver you must attend 35 hours (or 5 days of 7 hours training) of Driver CPC Periodic Training every 5 years to keep your Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).

If you drive both lorries and buses professionally you will only need to complete one set of 35 hours of Driver CPC periodic training every 5 years in the country where you work or are normally resident.

When the 5-year Driver CPC Training Period Starts

Each 5-year period starts from 5 years before your current Driver CPC qualification runs out – not from the date you completed your last 35 hours of training.

Deadline for New Professional Drivers

For new truck drivers who have taken Initial Driver CPC Modules 2 (case study) & Module 4 (practical demonstration) you must complete periodic training by 5 years from the date you got the initial qualification.
