HGV TRUCK DRIVING EXPERIENCE - SOUTH WALES
HGV Truck Driving Experience - Background
Big Wheelers (South Wales) Limited are a top rated HGV training company and have been trading in South Wales for over 20 years. Over this time the company has been known for providing an excellent customer experience and consistently receive 5-star customer reviews.
At Llandow we have a large training area, on a former RAF runway with a driving circuit of 1.5 miles, this allows plenty of time and space for you to settle in behind the wheel of a big hgv truck! Once confident with the handling of the truck and 45’ trailer you will be introduced to a series of challenges!
Our unique HGV truck driving experience is very much tailored to the individual’s skills and capabilities. The duration of the driving experience is for one full hour, unlike other driving experience providers who often only provide a limited experience of just 15 to 20 minutes.
At Big Wheelers (South Wales) Limited HGV Truck Driving Experience events, the price is the price. Nothing extra to pay on the day! We do not have any ‘hidden costs’ such as paying for track fees, insurance cover or damage waivers.
We want you to arrive and enjoy the experience with butterflies in your stomach and most importantly of all, leave with a big smile across your face!
Driving Experience - Upon Arrival
You will be met by your instructor who will provide you with a safety briefing and introduce you to the basic controls of the truck.
The truck is a large DAF tractor unit with a sleeper cab and you will be towing a full size tri-axle 45’ curtainsider trailer.
Once you are comfortable and familiar with the vehicle, we can adjust the driving seat and mirrors, it will then be seatbelt on, and you will be ready to start up the engine and go!
Driving Experience - What Can You Expect
Your HGV truck driving experience will be spent on a very large private site with you and the instructor. You will not be sharing any of the time behind the wheel with another customer. All truck driving experience events are carried out on a one-to-one basis.
The HGV driving experience will be conducted around a 1.5 mile circuit and initially consist of driving at varying speeds, light steering movements and some controlled braking exercises.
As you gain confidence you will be encouraged to tackle more challenging manoeuvres such as large 180° U-turn, a slalom course, tight 360° turns, conduct an emergency stop, some trailer reversing skills and time permitting disconnect and reconnect the trailer.
Up to 3 guests per person will be welcome onto the site, with plenty of opportunities for you to take free photographs and videos both inside and outside of the cab to record your experience.
At the end of the session all participants will be presented with a certificate of achievement, a mystery gift and a £10 gift voucher which can be spent on refreshments at the local Llandow Circuit café.
